TWIN V TRANSOM REPAIR-

Captain Roy's 26' Twin-V Center Console

This boat is owned by Captain Roy of

Roy's Electric Reels.   During a winter maintenance and re-fit he discovered some wet wood while changing out a transducer mount. At first we thought it was localized but the more we dug it became apparent that the damage was a bit more than we thought. After digging it all out we discovered that the transom was two layers of 3/4 ply separated by a 3/16 layer of glass. The leak was on the inside around the drain tunnels where they had not sealed it properly at the factory and the inside layer was rotting away.

We decided at this point to remove all the wood and pour a ceramic replacement so as to never worry about that problem again.

Once that was done we repaired all the gel coat, sanded, and buffed, and was done. In the process we eliminated several old gel coat repairs.
